How the Process Works
Get Educated:

Our RECs for Dummies page provides a simple, high-level overview of everything you need to know about California Renewable Energy Credits (RECs). The Knowledge Center section of our site provides a more thorough selection of tutorials and reference materials. All of our educational content is meant to speak directly to you, the retail solar system owner, so you can make informed decisions with your RECs.
Get Registered:

In order to sell your RECs, you must register your system in WREGIS (Western Renewable Energy Generation Information System) and get certified by the CEC (California Energy Commission). Leaf Exchange has streamlined this registration process so you have one point of contact: our site. We register solar system owners into WREGIS for no cost or obligation, and the Generating Unit Owner retains the ownership rights of their RECs. If you choose to register directly with WREGIS yourself, they will charge you an upfront annual fee.
Our 3-step online registration form will ask you to provide basic information on your system, like the system size, when it came online and who the installer was. When you submit, we will send you an auto-responder email that lists a few required support documents to provide.
Get Paid:

Leaf Exchange will allow solar system owners to get the best value possible for their RECs. Our online marketplace/exchange platform will transparently display pricing, which levels the playing field for smaller generators. We will charge a $3 per REC transaction fee when you decide to sell through our exchange.
